Overview & Getting Started
To get started with AlpineAI, all you need is a device with an internet connection and a current browser. No installation, activation by your IT department, or prior training is required.
Technical:
• Computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection.
• A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) or the AlpineAI mobile app for iOS and Android. Optionally, the AlpineAI Outlook plugin for working directly within your email program.
Organizational:
• Registration with AlpineAI AG and a valid license.
• A defined use case (e.g., research, text generation, report creation, meeting transcription).
Legal:
• You accept the General Terms and Conditions (GTC) of AlpineAI AG and enter into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA).
• For data subject to official, professional, or other legal confidentiality obligations, the Supplementary Agreement on the Processing of Confidential Data also applies, which strictly limits access to your data in plain text by contract.
• For recordings made with the Listener, you must obtain the prior verbal consent of all participants (Art. 179ter of the Swiss Criminal Code).
Implementing AlpineAI in a team takes virtually no time at all: The platform is available immediately after registration—no waiting, no technical setup, and no mandatory training.
From the very first second after registration, you can submit a request, analyze a document, create an assistant, or start a recording on the AlpineAI Platform. Standard operation does not require any involvement from your IT department—no SSO, whitelisting, or API integration is needed. For further training, AlpineAI AG offers e-learning courses consisting of six lessons that can be completed individually, as well as dedicated workshops for larger organizations featuring an introduction, prompting training, and exercises based on real-world work scenarios. For custom enterprise setups—such as integrations with line-of-business applications or your own document repositories—we’ll work with you to plan the technical setup as part of the implementation process.
Features & Languages
The Listener is AlpineAI's transcription feature. It records conversations, meetings, interviews, or dictations directly through the microphone; you can also upload existing audio files.
The recordings are fully transcribed—including Swiss German with high accuracy—and, upon request, processed directly into minutes, reports, notes, or summaries. In addition, Listener provides meeting metrics such as speaking shares, identifies key facts and to-dos from the conversation, and enables full-text search with source citations. Transcripts are available in German, English, French, and Italian.
The Listener is included in the Premium license. Recordings are processed on AlpineAI AG’s own hardware in Swiss data centers. Before recording, you must obtain the verbal consent of all participants (Art. 179ter of the Swiss Criminal Code for non-public conversations).
The AlpineAI Outlook plugin brings the platform’s features directly into your email program. It summarizes incoming emails and longer threads, helps you compose and reply to messages, and translates emails into Switzerland’s national languages as well as English. You work entirely within Outlook, without switching to a separate application or having to copy and paste between programs.
The plugin is included in both the Standard and Premium licenses and requires no development effort. You can install the AlpineAI Outlook add-in directly from within Outlook: Open the “Tools” menu and select “Get Add-Ins.” There, search for the AlpineAI add-in, select it, and add it with just a few clicks. It will then automatically appear in the sidebar as soon as you open an email. As with any other use of the platform, content processing takes place on AlpineAI AG’s own hardware in Swiss data centers.
The AlpineAI platform supports all of Switzerland's national languages as well as English.
For conversation transcription using Listener, AlpineAI’s transcription feature, there are four languages to choose from in the session settings: German, English, French, and Italian. This selection determines the language of the transcript and ensures the highest quality results. A particular strength lies in the reliable recognition of Swiss German and other dialects, which are automatically converted into standard language transcripts. Romansh is also understood, though the quality is slightly lower.
AlpineAI takes a consistently model-agnostic approach: The platform is not tied to a single language model but instead uses the best available open-source model for each specific use case. Currently, Mistral Large 3 is used as the primary language model. When making its selection, AlpineAI AG places particular emphasis on quality in the Swiss national languages.
AlpineAI AG replaces the models it uses as soon as new architectures offer advantages in terms of quality or efficiency, always taking into account the requirements for general-purpose AI (GPAI) models. AlpineAI AG runs all models on its own hardware in Switzerland; no model APIs from foreign providers are used. This prevents vendor lock-in, and you benefit from state-of-the-art technology at all times.
Data, Security, and Legal Matters
AlpineAI AG stores and processes your content on its own hardware in geographically redundant Swiss data centers certified to ISO 27001.
The data processed on the AlpineAI platform is subject to the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG) at all times and also complies with the requirements of the European GDPR. Full details regarding data centers, subcontractors, and certifications can be found on the Security page.
No, AlpineAI AG does not use your data to train language models. This assurance is enshrined in the contract: Customer input is not fed back into the language model and is not used for its further development (Section 4.4 of the Terms and Conditions).
Section 4.4 of the Terms and Conditions also states that content you create or generate using the platform belongs to you; AlpineAI AG makes no claim to the intellectual property rights therein, and you may use this content without restriction as your own work products, distribute it internally, and share it externally. Your content remains on AlpineAI AG’s own hardware in Swiss data centers. All individuals who come into contact with customer data in the course of operations are contractually bound to confidentiality (Section 4.4 of the General Terms and Conditions), and access is governed by a role-based least-privilege principle.
No, prior anonymization or pseudonymization is not required. The platform is designed to process personal data and data requiring special protection in plain text.
As the data controller, you decide whether to anonymize data in individual cases. For information on how access to plaintext is contractually restricted, see the " Security" section.
Whether you are required to inform patients, citizens, or employees separately about the use of AlpineAI depends on your own privacy policy and the specific purpose of the processing. When using the platform, you remain the data controller; AlpineAI AG acts as a data processor based on the Data Processing Agreement (DPA). As a general rule, it is sufficient for your privacy policy to cover processing by data processors and to list AlpineAI AG as a Swiss data processor.
When using the listener to record conversations, the consent of all participants is also required (Art. 179ter of the Swiss Criminal Code); a verbal notice at the beginning of the conversation, followed by explicit consent, is sufficient. We recommend full transparency and consultation with your data protection officer. AlpineAI AG will provide you with all the information for your processing inventory upon request.
AlpineAI AG operates on the basis of three documents: the General Terms and Conditions (GTC), the Data Processing Agreement (DPA) in accordance with the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG) and the EU GDPR, and—for data subject to official or professional secrecy—the Supplementary Agreement on the Processing of Confidential Data.
As the data controller, you retain control over the processing: AlpineAI AG processes your data in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions, the Data Processing Agreement, and your documented instructions (Section 1.1 of the Data Processing Agreement). All three documents are publicly available; details on security and certifications can be found on the Security page.
Operations & Licenses
AlpineAI AG guarantees 99 percent platform availability during the term of the license (Section 9.1 of the Terms and Conditions).
Maintenance work is performed outside of normal business hours in Switzerland whenever possible, and AlpineAI AG will notify you of scheduled maintenance windows in advance whenever possible. Please report malfunctions, errors, and security incidents via the AlpineAI support portal; processing begins as soon as a ticket is created that includes a description of the problem, the time it occurred, the affected users, and reproducible steps. If the portal is technically unavailable, please report the issue via email to the designated support contact. Technical safeguards include daily automated backups, regularly tested recovery procedures, and backups stored off-site.
AlpineAI AG offers three licensing models: Standard, Premium, and Enterprise. The Standard license includes chat, web search, assistants, file upload, and the Outlook plugin. The Premium license adds preconfigured assistants and the Listener. The Enterprise package offers the full range of features, including integrations.
The Standard and Premium plans are available for up to 10 individual user licenses and are billed monthly or annually, with the annual billing option offering a discount of up to 10 percent.
