Ensuring the trust of your citizens.

Public bodies carry maximum responsibility when handling personal data. AlpineAI protects this foundation through radical localization: Swiss servers, Swiss law, and an architecture built specifically for the security needs of government authorities.

Chat & Internet Search: Your knowledge hub.

Search complex regulations and legal texts in seconds or draft standard responses. The chat is your smart sparring partner for analyses and drafts based on your internal documents.

Assistants & Agents: Automating processes.

Delegate time-consuming workflows like drafting ordinances or responding to citizen inquiries to digital agents. You provide the instructions and feed them with expertise (datasets, regulations, etc.); AlpineAI handles the precise execution.

Listener: Protocols at the touch of a button.

Convert meetings, committee sessions, or citizen appointments directly into structured minutes. Automated transcription saves hours of post-processing and ensures complete documentation.

As mayor, I view AlpineAI products as a groundbreaking technology that enables us to optimize our services for our residents. It helps us process requests more quickly, improve communication, and ultimately ensure a more efficient and resident-friendly administration.

Frequently Asked Questions from Government Agencies

Overview & Getting Started

To get started with AlpineAI, all you need is a device with an internet connection and a current browser. No installation, activation by your IT department, or prior training is required.

Technical:

• Computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection.
• A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) or the AlpineAI mobile app for iOS and Android. Optionally, the AlpineAI Outlook plugin for working directly within your email program.

Organizational:

• Registration with AlpineAI AG and a valid license. Standard and Premium licenses cover up to 9 users; for central administrations and larger institutions, the Enterprise package is available starting at 10 licenses.
• A defined use case (e.g., citizen inquiries, meeting minutes, searching regulations, report generation).

Legal:

• You accept the General Terms and Conditions (GTC) of AlpineAI AG and enter into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA).
• For data subject to official or professional secrecy, the Supplementary Agreement on the Processing of Confidential Data also applies, which strictly limits access to your data in plain text by contract.
• For recordings made with the Listener, you must obtain the prior verbal consent of all participants (Art. 179ter of the Swiss Criminal Code for non-public conversations).

Once you've registered, AlpineAI is ready to use right away—no procurement project or technical setup required.

From the very first second after registration, you can submit a request, search through a set of rules, record a session, or create an assistant on the AlpineAI Platform. Standard operation does not require any involvement from your IT department—no SSO, whitelisting, or API integration is needed. For further training, AlpineAI AG offers an e-learning course with six lessons as well as dedicated workshops covering an introduction, prompting training, and exercises based on everyday administrative tasks; upon request, our team can provide on-site training. For enterprise setups with 10 or more licenses—such as integrations with line-of-business applications—we’ll work with you to plan the technical setup as part of the implementation process.

Features & Languages

The AlpineAI Outlook plugin is an extension for Microsoft Outlook that brings the platform’s features directly into the email program. In public administration, it primarily streamlines citizen correspondence: It summarizes lengthy inquiries and correspondence histories, assists in drafting responses, and translates between Switzerland’s national languages, which shortens response times in multilingual cantons and municipalities.

You work entirely within Outlook, without having to switch to a separate application. You can install the add-in yourself via "Get Add-Ins" in Outlook; no development effort is required. The plugin is included in both the Standard and Premium licenses. For more details, see Products.

The AlpineAI platform supports all of Switzerland's national languages as well as English.

The full range of AlpineAI’s features is available in all of these languages: You can submit a citizen inquiry in French, search a regulation in German, and have the response displayed in Italian—all without switching applications. Listener, AlpineAI’s transcription feature, also supports German, English, French, and Italian for meeting minutes and reliably recognizes Swiss German as well as other dialects. Romansh is understood, though the quality is slightly lower.

AlpineAI currently uses Mistral Large 3 as its primary language model and is constantly switching to the best available model.

For use in government administration, AlpineAI AG specifically evaluates these models for official German, legal and administrative terminology, and reliability when handling multilingual documents. AlpineAI AG operates all models on its own hardware in Switzerland; no model APIs from foreign providers are used. This ensures that your government agency avoids vendor lock-in. For more on our model-agnostic approach, see Products.

Data, Security, and Legal Matters

AlpineAI AG stores and processes your content in Switzerland. AlpineAI AG operates the models on its own hardware in geographically redundant, ISO 27001-certified Swiss data centers operated by its partners RIZ AG and Green Datacenter AG.

Our colocation partner, Green Datacenter AG, does not have logical access to virtual machines, operating systems, or data; content data is always encrypted there. Your data is therefore subject to the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG) at all times and also complies with the requirements of the European GDPR. The Data Processing Agreement (DPA) limits processing to Switzerland and the EEA; all subprocessors are disclosed in Annex 3 of the DPA, along with the purpose and location of processing, and are contractually obligated to maintain the same level of protection. For data subject to official secrecy, services involving the handling of classified data in plain text may only be provided within Switzerland.

The optional web search is an exception: If it is used, query data is transmitted to an external search provider (Section 2.5 of the Terms and Conditions). It is subject to a three-step opt-in process and can be disabled at any time by your administration for the entire instance.

No, AlpineAI AG does not use your data to train language models. This assurance is enshrined in the contract: Customer inputs are not fed back into the language model and are not used for its further development (Section 4.4 of the Terms and Conditions).

Section 4.4 of the Terms and Conditions also states that any content you create or generate using the platform belongs to you; AlpineAI AG makes no claim to intellectual property rights in such content. Your content remains on AlpineAI AG’s own hardware in Swiss data centers. All persons who come into contact with client data in the course of operations are contractually bound to confidentiality (Section 4.4 of the General Terms and Conditions), and access is governed by a role-based least-privilege principle. For data subject to official secrecy, AlpineAI AG is additionally contractually prohibited from using such data for its own purposes, in particular for training purposes (Supplementary Agreement on the Processing of Classified Data).

No, prior anonymization or pseudonymization is not required to use the AlpineAI platform.

For data subject to official secrecy, AlpineAI AG enters into a supplementary agreement with corporate clients regarding the processing of confidential data, which expressly refers to the Swiss confidentiality obligations under Art. 320 et seq. of the Swiss Criminal Code (StGB). Accordingly, employees of AlpineAI AG and engaged subcontractors are granted access to this data in plain text only on a need-to-know basis and only with your prior individual authorization, in the event of an urgent emergency requiring business continuity, or pursuant to an enforceable order from a competent Swiss authority. Third parties are not granted plaintext access, and services involving plaintext confidential data may be provided exclusively in Switzerland.

As a public body, you remain responsible for ensuring that there is a valid legal basis for the processing.

Whether you are required to inform citizens separately about the use of AlpineAI depends on the data protection laws that apply to you. As a public body, you remain the data controller under data protection law; AlpineAI AG acts as a data processor based on the Data Processing Agreement (DPA). Your record of processing activities and the respective purpose of processing are also decisive. As a general rule, it is sufficient for your privacy policy to cover processing by data processors and to list AlpineAI AG as a Swiss data processor.

When using the listener to record conversations, the consent of all participants is also required (Art. 179ter of the Swiss Criminal Code for non-public conversations); a verbal notice at the beginning of the conversation, followed by express consent, is sufficient. We recommend full transparency and consultation with your data protection officer. AlpineAI AG will provide you with all the information needed for your processing inventory and for a data protection impact assessment (DPIA) upon request.

AlpineAI operates on a clearly defined contractual basis in accordance with the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG) and the EU GDPR. Customers accept the General Terms and Conditions (GTC) and enter into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA). For data subject to official, professional, or other legal confidentiality obligations, AlpineAI AG also provides a supplementary agreement for the processing of confidential data.

Data processing takes place on AlpineAI AG’s own servers in Switzerland; any subcontractors are listed in the Data Processing Agreement (DPA) and its Annex 3 and are contractually bound. AlpineAI AG is certified to ISO 27001:2022 and in accordance with the VDSZ (Ordinance on Data Protection Certifications, SR 235.13), both issued by SQS. The solution has been reviewed in several cantons as part of a data protection impact assessment (DPIA).

All documents are publicly available; for more details, please visit the security page.

Integration & Licenses

Yes, AlpineAI can be integrated into existing software environments used by government agencies. The AlpineAI API platform (REST) enables integration with your line-of-business applications—such as ERP, GEVER (business administration), or document management systems—so that AlpineAI’s features are available directly within your existing work environments.

The integration with eGeKo is already in production for the administrative environment; AlpineAI AG is continuously expanding its range of pre-built connectors. Technical details on endpoints and authentication can be found on the API platform. The AlpineAI Outlook plugin, which works directly within the email program, is ready for use without any development effort. Let us know your integration requests: Feedback from real-world use flows directly into our integration roadmap. AlpineAI AG implements custom integrations as part of the Enterprise package for orders of 10 or more licenses.

AlpineAI AG offers public administrations three licensing models: Standard, Premium, and Enterprise.

The Standard license includes chat, web search, two assistants (up to 50 documents each / max. 100 MB), file upload, and the Outlook plugin. The Premium license includes the same set of features with a total of five assistants (up to 50 documents each / max. 100 MB) and adds preconfigured assistants as well as Listener technology for automated logs and reports. Both licenses are available for up to 9 individual user licenses and are billed monthly or annually, with annual billing offering a discount of up to 10 percent. For central administrations and larger institutions, AlpineAI AG offers a full-featured Enterprise package starting at 10 licenses, with pricing available upon request.
